Tim Shanahan is the Director of the Energy and Minerals Institute at the University of Western Australia, with the key role of facilitating UWA’s activities across the minerals and energy value chain. He represents UWA within a range of organisations, including the WA Energy Research Alliance, the Centre for Exploration Targeting and the International Mining for Development Centre. Prior to joining the University, Tim was Chief Executive of the Western Australian Chamber of Minerals and Energy (CME). From 1989 to 2000, Tim was CEO of WA’s Association for Local Government.
Tim is involved in a range of organisations and businesses:
- · Trustee Director of WA Super, with $2B in funds under management.
- · Deputy Chairman of the Esperance Port Authority.
- · Immediate Past President of the Royal Automobile Club in WA, servicing and representing 800,000 Western Australians.
- · Member – Regional Development Trust, a statutory group that advises the WA State Government on the Royalties for Regions Program currently contributing $1b P/A to regional Western Australia
Tim has been awarded the Public Service Medal (2001) and Centenary Medal (2003) for outstanding service to local government and was the recipient of the 2007 WA Gas Industry Development Award. He is a Law graduate from UWA.
